This is the end..

I'm leaving tomorrow. I'm going to miss the people I met here so much! when I arrived, I knew nobody, but everybody welcomed me as I was family. They were so greatful for what I was doing, but at the end, I was the one that had to be greatful.I learned so much from them: their differences, their language, their way of thinking. For the teens in here, school is not a jail but a loop-hole, a way-out. Everything can seem beautiful to them. When young ladies get married, they have to be dressed in colours. Here, the white colour is for death. I though that was so weird when I was young, but now I find it beautiful.    The people in town had no cliché, no prejudice about me or my culture. That is something I find really great, they had no idea who I was, but still, they smiled to me. They smile for everything, they find it really important. I saw a little boy smiling while we were working, and I asked him"why do you smile? I just gave you homework. - Because if you don't smile, you can't enjoy anything. If you smile you could even enjoy having homeworks." he answered. And that's when I understood that the indian culture is so much more than the Taj Mahal. It's a whole way of seeing life, and every person has his own way to see it. I learned so much from this trip, and I believe now my life has more sense... I hope you enjoy my blog, and I wish to all of you that you can have an experience like this that would change your life the way it changed mine!

Drawing a little...

I started my volunteering, and the people here is amazing. The kids are great, all they want is to learn, so much different of where I come from! I met this amazing young lady, she's 24, and I asked her if I could draw her. As you can see, she accepted.

Taj Mahal Video

Agra and Jaipur

There we are, we finally arrived in Agra! After 3 hours of bus, I could admire the streets of this beautiful city. We were a group of 7 people on this 3 days exursion, and I immediately started to talk with a girl of my age. We went to a  typical indian restorant where we could eat an amazing plate: curry chicken with dahl, it's a kind of yellow lentil mash with spices, it's just de-li-cious! After that we walked a little bit in the city, it was awesome, the houses are all in a different colour, the architecture is wonderful, it's a city that has a lot of history, and I love it...
And then... we saw the Taj Mahal!! It's not exactly like I expected... It's so so so so much better!!!!! I don't remember ever seing something that beautiful. It's really breathtaking. I was...breathless and wordless in front of this monument. It has so much majesty, beauty and we can feel so much past ad history when we see it.
The next day, we took the bus again to go to Jaipur, the Pink City. What we did there was walking in the streets, talking quietly, just enjoying the sun, and the beauty of the city. At the end of the day, when we went to the hotel, I knew that the following day was going to change my life. I think people call it "fear of the unknown", and in this moment I understood the real meaning of this word. I had a really bad time trying to sleep, but I was always thinking about what was going to happen. Everything I've ever known is going to change, my life's gonna be totally different. But then I though of what I left, of the reason I suscribed for this adventure, and I told myself this is what I wanted. And then my grandpa's voice came to my head: "tomorrow could be the someday you've been waiting for". He used to say that all the time. I took a deep breath and closed my eyes, waiting for tomorrow to come.

Arrival at New Delhi!

Finally, we touched earth, and I could relax. I definitely don't like airplanes... I got off the plane and went straight to the hotel where I was staying for the night. I decided to arrive a few days before my volunteering work starts, so I can visit a little bit around. After taking a shower I checked that everything was okay for tomorrow. I made a map of the places I'm going to visit before going in the small town where I'm going to spend the next 6 months. It's next to Jaipur (a beautiful city, called the pink city). It is a little town named Sambhar, I don't know how to pronounce it! There, I'm going to help children and teenagers to learn english. In exchange, they give me a place to stay and food. I'm really happy to do this, I hope the people is going to like me... It's a big change in my life, I am a little anxious, but I feel like this is the right thing to do. Anyway, I have three days to visit the region before I start working, and I'm going to enjoy it! Tomorrow I leave New Delhi to visit Agra,  and the Taj Mahal!! It's a monument I've always dreamt to see, and I'm finally going to make it, I'm so excited!! But first, a good night of sleeping would be good...
See you tomorrow!!
